William Harrison, a 21-year-old Brunel University rugby player, defies the traditional path, having started the sport later at 14. Despite initial ankle and knee injuries, his determination propelled him from school-level play through the Saracens program, ultimately securing a first-team spot at Brunel.
Balancing high-level rugby with his Sport Science and Business degree, William's structured routine fuels his relentless drive to continue growing as a player and forge a lasting future in the sport he loves.

2020
Foundations and Early Promise
William began his senior rugby journey at Chelmsford RFC, his home club, while also captaining the 1st XV at Helena Romanes School. His early promise was recognized with his inclusion in the Saracens Essex DPP Programme U16, laying the groundwork for his future development.

2021
Strategic Move for Development
Committed to advancing both his academic and sporting careers, William made a pivotal move for his Sixth Form to The Bishop Stortford High School. This decision proved crucial for his continued development within a competitive rugby environment.

2022
Breakthroughs and University Transition
A year of significant breakthroughs, William cemented his place in The Bishop Stortford High School's 1st XV and earned selection for the Essex EAP county U18s squad as an open side Flanker. He experienced success winning the Northampton Saints 7s Plate with TBSHS, competing at the prestigious Rosslyn Park 7s, and notably toured South Africa playing against esteemed schools. The year culminated with his move to Brunel University and joining the Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Academy, marking a major step into high-performance rugby.

2023
Ascending Through Brunel and County Selection
At Brunel, William quickly progressed, playing for the 3rd XV and the Saturday 1st XV at Back Row. His talent was further acknowledged with selections for the Middlesex U20s and the prestigious London and South East England squad at Hooker, a position he embraced, also taking on Loosehead Prop for his second season at Brunel.

2024
Resilience Amidst Setbacks
This season saw William consistently featuring for Brunel's 2nd XV and earning valuable 1st XV caps, showcasing his growing influence. Despite the heartbreak of losing the Papa John's Community Cup Final at Twickenham, he continued to represent Essex U20s and competed in various 7s tournaments, demonstrating his resilience even when facing a Mcl knee injury and nose surgery in his pre-season.

2025
Triumph and Future Pathways
William's third year at Brunel was marked by an injury-free season, allowing him to consistently play across the 1st XV, 2nd XV, and Saturday 1st XV. He was a key part of the SuperBucs Promotion squad, faced tough competition against Newcastle and Swansea, and showcased his potential in the Coventry U21s First Rugby Combine event. A highlight was his triumphant return to Twickenham, where he lifted the Papa John's Cup Final, and his continued representation in various 7s tournaments and the Middlesex Men’s Rugby Squad.
